Honda and Ferrari introduced new parts for their power units for the first time this season, while Renault uses new units of their problematic MGU-K on all four Renault powered cars.
After the problem with the Leclerc’s engine in Bahrain, where the short circuit in the control electronics caused the problems with one of the six cylinders, Ferrari decided to change the control electronics on Leclerc’s and Vettel’s cars, as well as on Haas cars of Grosjean and Magnussen.
Interestingly, they did not decide to replace the same part and on the Alfa Romeo cars of Raikkonen and Giovinazzi.
Honda also introduced new elements after unexpected problems on Kvyat’s Toro Rosso STR14, which got a new engine, turbo, MGU-H and MGU-K.
