AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo drove the most laps in pre-season testing in Bahrain while current world champions Mercedes drove the fewest laps of all teams for the first time in the hybrid era.
The teams only had three days of testing this season which is the least ever and that’s why every reliability problem carried more weight than usual because there was no time to make up for lost time.
Pierre Gasly drove the most laps of all drivers (237) behind the wheel of an AlphaTauri AT02 and Kimi Raikkonen drove only eight laps less in the Alfa Romeo C41.
Six drivers drove more than 200 laps on the Bahrain International Circuit track while Sebastian Vettel drove the fewest laps of all racing drivers for his new team Aston Martin (117).

Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri drove the most laps of all the teams (422), but Ferrari, Alpine and Haas were also very close to that figure with more than 93% of the number of laps of Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri.
Williams drove the most laps of the four teams using Mercedes engines – 373 laps (or 88.4% of the number of laps driven by Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri).
Although they are only seventh in the number of laps, Red Bull can be very satisfied because they did not have major problems and did the planned programs with both drivers as they completed a total of 369 laps, 87.4% of the number of laps Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri.
McLaren had solid testing given that they were the only ones to change engine suppliers before this season and Ricciardo and Norris completed 327 laps in the new MCL35M with Mercedes engine.
Aston Martin and Mercedes have the least reason for satisfaction as they drove only 314 (Aston Martin) and 304 (Mercedes) laps. This is in stark contrast to the last few years in which we have used to see Mercedes at the top of the tables when it comes to the number of laps driven.
