Bahrain GP strategy overview – Ferrari got their strategy right

Pirelli brought the same components as last year – supersoft, soft and medium – and for the first time this season, the most common strategy was not one stop.

That is why Pirelli decided to go a little more conservative through and softer blends can be expected in 2018, depending on how the situation with tires is taking place in the rest of the season.

Sebastian Vettel was the first of the leading drivers who decided to pit and thus suggested that the two stop strategy will be the one most drivers will follow.

Another five drivers in top10 adopted a similar strategy (SS-SS-S) (Bottas, Raikkonen, Perez, Grosjean and Ocon) and Hamilton and Massa opted for a SS-S-S combination, unlike Ricciardo and Hulkenberg who drove the final part on supersofts (SS-S-SS).
