Valtteri Bottas set the fastest time in second free practice at Silverstone after having been half ternth faster than his team-mate Hamilton on soft and almost half a second ahead of Ferrari on supersoft tyres.
Hamilton was the fastest on soft tyres and finished just 0.047 seconds behind Bottas on supersoft after the British driver failed to improve his time on the softest Pirelli compound.
Ferrari drivers Raikkonen and Vettel finished third and fourth with Finn being 0.022 seconds faster than the German on the fast Silverstone circuit.
Verstappen was fifth, tenth and half behind Vettel, and Ricciardo completed the dominance of the big three by setting sixth fastest time, but nearly seven-tenths slower than his team-mate.
Nico Hulkenberg had a brilliant second free practice for Renault ending in seventh place, only 0.172 seconds behind Ricciardo in Red Bull after Renault was second slowest car in first practice.
Massa was eighth fastest for Williams on the track where they led in 2015 and Alonso continued with good performances for McLaren as he again finished in top ten with a new Honda engine that will bring him a penalty at the start of the race.
Esteban Ocon was faster than his more experienced teammate Perez and finished tenth in front of Sainz and Kvyat in Toro Rosso who were separated by only seven thousandths of a second.
Grosjean was faster than Magnusson in the 14th place ahead of Stroll and Vandoorne while Palmer again had a dismal free practice for Renault in 19th place, just ahead of Sauber’s Ericsson and Wehrlein who finished in the last two places again.
The third free practice starts at 11:00 (CET) while the qualifying starts at 14:00 (CET).
