Sauber test driver Tatiana Calderon has successfully completed her second F1 test at Fiorano where she tested 2013 Sauber F1 car C32, setting a very competitive time even though she was driving on Pirelli’s promotional tyres.
The Colombian driver first experienced the F1 car in Mexico, where she tested the current Sauber C37 driven by Leclerc and Ericcson, and the team was pleased with her performance and the approach.
Calderon tested the 2013 Sauber F1 car C32 on the 17th and 18th of November and completed 202 laps in two days or 594.89 kilometers.
On the first day Calderon completed 90 laps and set the best time 59.913, less than four seconds behind the 2004 Schumacher track record (55.999 in Ferrari F2004), and on the second day she added 112 more laps and improved her time to 58.802.
“It was a great experience, the track is interesting and the atmosphere is special. The track and air temperature were pretty low but consistent,” said Calderon.
“Our target was for me to learn the track and find a good balance for the car, which we achieved.
“Driving the C32 feels incredible, and the sound and power of the V8 engine are amazing.”
“Overall, the past two days have been very beneficial to my development and I have gained valuable experience. The team did a great job in the preparation as well as the implementation of my programme and I felt comfortable in the car as well as on the track.”
“I look forward to putting what I have learned to practice.”
