The Ferrari F1 team presented their new 2018 Formula 1 car with which they hope to break the four-year domination of Mercedes and win their first ever title since 2008.
Ferrari, through its online presentation at Maranello, has demonstrated its new car SF71H with a halo protection system in the center of which is Ferrari’s logo.
Compared to its predecessors, the new SF71H has a lot more red than white colour, and is also the first Ferrari since 2009, which does not carry the sponsors of the Spanish bank group Santander.
Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen will drive for Ferrari for the fourth season in a row. Ferrari won their last constructors’ title in 2008 with Massa and Raikkonen while Raikkonen won their last drivers’ title year before.
In addition to Vettel and Raikkonen, new driver Daniil Kvyat and spare driver Antonio Giovinazzi were also present at the presentation of the new car.
As for the new power unit, Ferrari says they were able to achieve satisfactory reliability as a result of the new rules on the use of only three engines per season, but at the same time retained power at the level of last year.
Ferrari plans to introduce an upgrade of their V6 engine during the season, which will aim at improved performance.
Preseason tests begin on Monday, February 26th.
