The FIA has published the location of DRS zone on the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, or Autodromo di Imola, which will be at the start and finish line, which will be longer than during the last race on this track in 2006.
Imola returns to the F1 calendar after 14 years without the last chicane to extend the main straight to 1.3 km, and since DRS, a system of reducing air resistance by opening the rear wing, has been introduced in Formula 1 in 2011, the FIA has set detection and activation points for that system.
The detection point is located 40 meters after the last turn (Rivazza) while the activation begins at the start-finish line.
Speed trap is located 120 meters before Turn 17 (Rivazza) and, as before, speeds will be measured at the end of each sector – the first measurement is 115 meters before Turn 7 (Tossa), the second is 190 meters before Turn 14 (Variante Alta) and the third is at the start-finish line.
