The FIA and Formula 1 have rescheduled the next F1 Championship race in Imola due to clash with the funeral of Prince Philip, who passed away last Friday at the age of 99.
The funeral of Prince Philip is scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm, as well as the qualifying session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, and according to the new schedule, the qualifying will be held an hour earlier, which resulted in a schedule shift for all free practice sessions.
The third free practice will start at 11:00 instead of 12:00 because according to the rules at least two hours must pass between the third practice and qualifying, and since at least 19 hours must pass between the second and third practice, the schedule for the first two practices have been altered too.
So the first free practice will start on Friday at 11:00 instead of 11:30, and the second free practice will start at 14:30 instead of 15:00.
The race still remains in its original time and will start on Sunday at 15:00.
“The whole of Formula 1 wants to pay tribute to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who has dedicated his entire life to Great Britain and served his country with pride and dedication,” the Formula 1 statement said.
