The Haas F1 Team unveiled their new F1 car for 2021 on the first day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, a day after they first tested the new car on the same track during the day to shoot promotional materials.
A week ago, Haas showed a new visual identity for this season on an old VF-20 car with a white background and red-blue details, but only today did they officially show the new car.
The American team, which had their Formula 1 debut in 2016, changed its lineup after four seasons with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, and in 2021 they will have two new drivers – Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin.
Haas’ new livery has caught the attention of the World Anti-Doping Organization (WADA) because of its resemblance to the Russian flag, which must not be shown at sporting events for the next two years, and Mazepin cannot perform under his country’s flag.
Haas drove the first 100 kilometers yesterday with a new car during its first filming day and started the new VF-21 for the first time, and today it will be tested by Schumacher and Mazepin.
The team has announced no plans to develop the car this season to direct as much resources as possible to the new car for 2022 and the car is an evolution of the predecessor with which it shares chassis, nose and airbox design.
Haas hopes Ferrari will have a significantly more powerful engine this year to be able to cope with Williams using Mercedes engines, unlike last season when they had the weakest engine in Formula 1.
