Felipe Massa believes that the world champions Mercedes will be 100% on Lewis Hamilton side when it comes to the fight for the world championship and thinks Hamilton be compared to any of the great drivers in F1 history.
Hamilton was fighting with his team-mate Rosberg in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and often had a very tense relationship with him. But with the arrival of Bottas in 2017, the atmosphere has changed.
In 2017, Bottas assisted Hamilton when the team asked for him, but Hamilton gave him position back in Hungary even though Vettel still led the championship.
Massa believes Mercedes will have no dilemma when it comes to their main driver in F1 in 2018.
“In 2018 team will be 100% on his side,” Massa told Autosport.
“So he has no problem with his team-mate like he had maybe before with Rosberg.”
“So a lot of things are really on his side and he can just make himself beter and better all the time.”
‘Hamilton has nothing to lose compared to any driver in history’
In 2017 Lewis Hamilton won the fourth title (Schumacher and Fangio only have more), crushed Schumacher’s 68 pole position and 116 front row starts records, while Massa, lost the tense 2008 finale from Hamilton, believes the British driver can be compared to any great driver in F1 history.
“Hamilton has done a perfect job, he had some problems in some races at the start of the season [Russia and Monaco],” Massa said.
“He just did not have the speed and struggled with some things on the car, but I think they’ve solved it.”
“He did a really amazing job and had fun racing. He pulled the best out of what he had.”
“He deserves all he has ever achieved. This season he has become a driver that can be compared with any driver in F1 history.”
