The McLaren F1 team presented their new 2019 F1 car MCL34 which will use Renault power units as its predecessor and the team hopes to be more competitive than with the troubled MCL33 which was on average the second slowest car in F1 2018.
The new MCL34 was introduced at McLaren’s Technology Center in Woking, where their new drivers Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris were present, and the combination of orange and blue is similar to last year’s car.
The new sponsors Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Huski Chocolate are featured on the car and the sidepod concept is in line with this year’s trends with sidepod intake located high and between the two lateral safety structures.
McLaren has also changed the technical and management structure with James Key from Toro Rosso should start working in the middle of the season and Andreas Seidl, a new team principal from Porsche, should start working on May 1st.
The new MCL34 is signed by Pat Fry and Andrea Stella, while James Key’s influence should be seen on the next year car.
