The world champions signed a deal with a new clothing brand Tommy Hilfiger, replacing former sponsor Hugo Boss.
Hugo Boss decided to move to Formula E at the end of last year and to end the multi-year tradition of sponsoring F1 teams after working with McLaren Mercedes and later Mercedes.
Later it became apparent that Mercedes refused to extend with Hugo Boss to make room for Tommy Hilfiger and that Hugo Boss then went to Formula E.
Tommy Hilfiger wanted to return to F1 after collaborating with Ferrari and Lotus and now they will produce clothing and other things for the world championship team.
There is also the possibility of co-operation with Lewis Hamilton, who has a fairly burly and diverse life including the world of fashion and music.
“We are delighted to welcome Tommy Hilfiger to Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Formula 1,” said Toto Wolff.
“It’s always exciting to start a new partnership, especially when it comes to such a key area as the team’s image. I’m positive that it will give our brand new energy.”
