Ferrari has completed the first laps in the new F1 car for 2021 SF21 at the Bahrain International Circuit, the day before the start of pre-season testing at the same track.
After they were last to introduce their new car for 2021 yesterday, Ferrari did the first test of the new SF21 using a filming day during which they are allowed to drive a maximum of 100 kilometers.
In such a test, special Pirelli tyres must be used, which are not the same as the racing tyre specification that will change for the first time since 2019 and which drivers tested last season.
Pirelli will bring all five components of their dry tyres to pre-season testing and drivers will have the opportunity to test them on new cars for the first time over the next three days.
Ferrari has released the first photo of the new SF21, driven by Charles Leclerc and featuring green Philip Morris’ ‘Mission Winnow’ logo on the engine cover while photos without the logo have also appeared on social networks.
The new car was also tested today by Ferrari’s new driver Carlos Sainz, who shared a maximum of 100 kilometers with Leclerc.
Ferrari has also announced a schedule for the first day of testing – Charles Leclerc will drive the SF21 in the first part of the day while Carlos Sainz will drive in the afternoon.
