Esteban Ocon yesterday drove the first kilometers in the new Alpine F1 car for 2021 at Silverstone while Fernando Alonso missed the first test because he is not currently in the United Kingdom.
Ocon drove 100 kilometers at cold Silverstone in a new A521 on special Pirelli tyres and the Frenchman was delighted to return to the F1 car after almost three months.
“It was really fun today,” Ocon said.
“First, it was nice to be in the car again on a track like Silverstone and it’s something special.”
“The car seemed nice to drive and we were able to get through the planned program.”
“In the morning we had a delay due to fog, but after that the track was dry and that made it a pleasant experience.”
“I wish I could drive more than 100km, but that’s the limit and I left the track with a smile on my face.”
“We want to transfer that mood to Bahrain next week where conditions will be more representative with racing tyres and higher temperatures.”
“All in all, it was a very interesting day and I can’t wait to find out more about the new car.”
“I have to say I really like the new colors, it’s the most beautiful car in F1.”
