Renault Formula One team provided a new chassis for Daniel Ricciardo ahead of next Bahrain championship racing as a precautionary measure after damage sustained in Australia.
Ricciardo lost the front wing by crossing the grass on the start finish straight and in the lap 28 he retired as a precautionary measure while he was in 16th place.
Renault did not want to risk in Bahrain and decided to replace his chassis and the old will be used as a spare.
“I believe it is because of a impact at the start, they do not know if this is a 100% cause, that’s presumption, but we’re playing safe and changing the chassis.”
Ricciard’s new team-mate Hulkenberg, who does not yet have an F1 podium in his CV, finished the first race of the season in seventh place.
