Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg believes Lewis Hamilton has more natural talent than Michael Schumacher despite German driver being the most successful Formula One driver of all time.
Rosberg was Schumacher’s teammate in Mercedes from 2010 to the end of 2012 and after that he was Hamilton team-mate for four years in the same team and defeated him in the 2016 championship battle.
In the battle of two Germans in the German team, Rosberg had been more successful in all three seasons and had 127 points more than Schumacher (324-197) while with Hamilton he won 139 points less (1195-1334).
“Lewis probably has more natural talent than Michael, Lewis has one of the greatest natural talents that this sport has ever seen and that makes the difference,” said Rosberg.
“As for working ethics, Schumacher is something else.”
“Lewis relies more on talent and instinct while Michael is more complete package.”
Rosberg is the only driver who has won more pole positions than Hamilton in the same team (2014) and in 2016 he beat him in the title fight with four consecutive second places at the end of the season and won his only championship title.
“I know Lewis from karting days and that probably helped me a bit because I knew I could beat him,” said Rosberg.
“When I found out Michael was coming, it was more intense.”
“Lewis is at my level, he was not an alien for me, that was fine, but it was equally difficult within the team, he is a great world champion.”
