Aston Martin F1 team boss Otmar Szafnauer explained why four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is so important to his team, and says they are sure Lance Stroll is more than capable of doing a good job if they give him a good car.

After six years at Ferrari, Vettel decided to move to Aston Martin where his new teammate will be Stroll while Perez left the team and joined Red Bull where he will drive alongside Verstappen.

Vettel is expected to rediscover his best form we haven’t seen in the last two seasons with Ferrari, and Stroll, after two podiums in 2020 and 11th place in the drivers standings must continue to make progress and make his form more consistent.

Szafnauer believes that Vettel and Stroll will push each other forward and believes that the German, the winner of the 53 F1 race, will bring a winning mentality to the team.

“This is an extremely exciting period for everyone in the team,” Szafnauer commented on his new driving line-up.

“At Sebastian, we have a proven four-time world champion with the experience of helping teams become winners.”

“That’s why he is such an important for us. He brings a winning mentality and we will undoubtedly learn a lot from him on this journey.”

“At Lance, we have a young and talented driver who works hard and who had the best season last year and progressed in all aspects of racing.”

“We know that if we give him the right tools he is more than capable of helping the team achieve its goals.”

“Also, we think Sebastian will get the best out of Lance, and Lance will in turn put pressure on Sebastian so we’re thrilled with our 2021 driver lineup.”

“It’s  an ideal blend of experience, winning knowledge and raw talent.”
