The Scuderia Ferrari team has confirmed that they have extended their contract with their current driver Carlos Sainz until the end of 2024 ahead of Ferrari’s first home race of the season in Imola.

After fans from around the world witnessed yesterday’s on-line launch of the F1-75, today the car ran for the first time, completing 15 kilometres, as part of a demonstration run organised for Scuderia Ferrari partners.

Carlos Sainz says this was not the best race for him although the team collectively achieved a very good result and due to the slow tyre change the Spaniard was stuck behind Daniel Ricciardo in McLaren which he failed to overtake despite eight laps fresher tyres.

Carlos Sainz admits he is still far from his best form he has shown in the last two seasons at McLaren, but believes he is going in the right direction and will soon be able to show his best form for Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz believes Ferrari are in a good position to fight McLaren for third place in the constructors' standings this season and that the balance of power between the two teams will oscillate from track to track.

Charles Leclerc is very happy with the race in Imola, which he finished in fourth place, as is Carlos Sainz in fifth, and team boss Mattia Binotto says dissatisfaction with the missed podium is an indicator of how much they have improved compared to last year.
