Carlos Sainz secured a tenth place finish in the final lap and sixth position in the championship, beating Nico Hulkenberg for a final point of the race to finish ahead of Gasly in Toro Rosso for only one point.

In the final lap of the championship, Sergio Perez overtook Land Norris and thus directly secured 10th place in the drivers' championship, calling his overtaking move 'one of the best of his career'.
