In 2015, Albon competed in European Formula 3 finishing seventh with five podiums and two pole positions and in the same year he finished 13th in the F3 race in Macau and tested the GP3 car for the ART Grand Prix team.
In 2016, Albon moved to the GP3 series, finishing second with the ART Grand Prix, 25 points behind champion Charles Leclerc and also tested the GP2 car, also with the ART Grand Prix team.
The GP2 series 2017 became Formula 2, and Albon was the debut of that year in that series and finished the tenth in the ART Grand Prix with two winning podiums and one fastest lap.
Albon went to the DAMS team for the 2018 F2 season and was much more competitive. He finished third in the driver’s championship with four wins and eight podiums, only seven points behind the second-placed Norris.
Red Bull closely monitored Albon’s progress and successfully terminated his contract with Renault e.Dams Formula E team.
That is how the young Thai earned his chance in 2019 Formula 1 season in Toro Rosso team where his teammate will be Daniil Kvyat.
