Williams bounces back, but Mercedes with most laps overall

After a disastrous first test in which they lost two days because of mistakes of their new driver Lance Stroll, Williams bounced back in style during the second test with most laps of any team and best time from Felipe Massa on the first day.

Number of laps is the most important number in pre-season testing because it means that the team can go further with the development and getting familiar with their new car –  each lesson before the start of the season in Australia in two weeks time is valuable.

Mercedes have driven most laps, but Ferrari is relatively close with the 87.23% of Mercedes’ number of laps.

McLaren Honda was at the bottom of the lap number tables in each test while Toro Rosso improved in the second test with more than twice number of laps than in the first test. Renault tumbled down in second test with only 304 laps while McLaren is last with only 38.78% of Mercedes laps.
